As as the tiles on the roof haven't been installed yet the house is not weather proof and we have had a week of bad weather. I thought i would take some close up photos of the window sills of the inside of the house. I had read on another blog of a Metricon build that somebody's else's windows got quite wet. And the result was that the window sills got water marks and warped. Once painted the window sills showed the water marks through the paint and a kind of bubbling. They were also no longer true and quite warped.
The photos bellow show that mine are now showing some water marks and feel quite spongy. I hope the roof goes on soon and its not to late for these to dry out. Do you guys think they will be a problem?

Wonder how hard it would be to re-do the MDF, At least the more expensive part (The glass and aluminium) should be ok.
ReplyDeleteThe window frames should be pine rather than MDF.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking they should be ok, but keep an eye on them. Most of the time windows aren't delivered or installed till the roof is on so they get atleast a little protection.
Certaily the windows themselves will not have any issues with weather, just the pine surrounds. keep an eye on them, your roof will be on in the next couple of days probably so won't be an issue moving forward.
Also, re your other post, stain the front post I think, shame to cover that lovely timber up with paint...
Interesting... I don't think there pine as i can bend them with my fingers. Looking at the end grain in that photo they don't look like MDF either. Might have to have a better look at them.
