The gutters and facia photos, you can also see some cement sheeting has been added above the exposed rafters. The shape of the gutters that join the exposed rafter section of the house are totally different.
To stain or paint? in our selection process we decided to paint the portico poles natural white but after seeing the lovely lumps of red gum wood staining them seems like a better option. My SS said we could change our mind and stain them if we like. what do you think?
In the photo below you can see the rounded gutters on the exposed rafter section vs. the square shape gutter with facia slightly back further.
We added eves around the alfresco and along the lounge room section but not the back side of the house. I sort of wish we did now, but cost were running away so we left them out. Interestingly we got a quote to have exposed rafter eves all the way around the hole house and were shocked that it would have been $35,000 hahaha no wonder i have never seen this done other than the Linkon display home in the Metricon book.

Tough call, to stain or to paint.
ReplyDeleteIt will make quite a difference to the look of the house with the dark bricks.
Can you stain it first and see how it looks, and if you decide you don't like it you can paint it yourself later?
Can't really paint it and then decide you want stain later.
Good point about the stain first paint later if i don't like it. I don't remember how much they wanted to stain them it might be a bit costly anyway.
ReplyDeleteReally? more money???
ReplyDeleteIf that is the case ask for a refund, cause they aren't painting it and DIY.
