I forgot to mention that the driveway will be a (1 in 6) meaning 1 meter of elevation gained in six meters of length. This is the max allowable by Metricon.
I asked my ss about this and he said that 1 in 6 is fine he said if it has any more though they would need to drop the garage down and put a step into the house.
In someways i think a step from the garage into the house would be a good thing. (stop dust going into the house)
Maybe i should have asked if that would cost more? maybe could have done it and made my driveway like a 0.5 in 6
Another reason why I chose a flat block, a flat driveway to work on the car.
ReplyDeleteAlso my garage is dropped down 120mm from the main floor level.
Hi Clinton, as someone who's had both flat and slopey driveways I'd investigate the cost of dropping the slab for the garage up to 200mm.
ReplyDeleteYou'll probably appreciate the flatter driveway long after the cost is forgotton (assuming it's not too much).
There is likely going to be a cost associated.
1 in 6 = 9.46º
ReplyDelete0.8 in 6 = 7.59º

Thanks guys i think i will ask and see what the price would be.
ReplyDeleteI asked about the step thing and when they say add a step what they mean is by default there is a drop down from the house of a normal one step amount to the garage. When the do the option to drop it a step this means you will need to make an actual step in the doorway to get into the house. its kind like 3 levels the garage floor the house floor and a step inbetween. This will lower the driveway down 200mm. will this reduce the driveway angle much?
ReplyDeleteHey Clinton, bit late I know, but I think Jim answered this one pretty well in his post. Probably more important is how much $$$ and how you feel about the step in the garage, for me personally I'd do it as I had issues in the past with slopey driveways.
